Thanks, Gaetano, I haven't done much about the oil spill in the past few days but hope to take another look at the story on Monday ... specifically, why everything tried to date hasn't worked. I'll be doing more about the aftermath as time goes on, so I appreciate everyone who's helping me keep up to date.

    Big Al,

I suppose I can call you that now that Steve S. isn't on the scene anymore (he probably is though.) It almost brought a tear to my eyes because he called you that. (Big Al) Tell Thomas Ashby and Steve that I miss them. They were so nice, especially Thomas. Also Jason from Kansas:(

Also, thanks for the memories in bringing up the Norwegian sky spiral in Dec. That's when I joined CL It seems like decades ago. (another would be tear almost escaped my eyes.) Time flies...

But check this out. There really is a cookbook called White Trash Cookbook. I didn't write it, by the way. ;) It's in the humor section of a bookstore. It's what you call "satire." Ever heard of it? I'm still reading The Case For Pluto that you sent me. Most excellent! I really like what you wrote about the "chief." But I'm gonna send you something as my way of thanking you. Do I send it to that Microsoft address? Do we still have a way of getting in touch with you by e-mail? I haven't tried lately. Anyway...

I don't think I'm gonna be no.60,000 again. I still don't have a good feeling about this place yet. Check out my home page in a couple of wks. I'm gonna get a pic up. Why don't they make "green women" like they do the "green men"?

You don't watch much Star Trek, do you? The green 'Orion Slave Women' have been around since the pilot episode with Jeffrey Hunter. (in ST: Enterprise, we learn that they aren't quite what we always thought they were, either) Even the new Trek movie has someone who may or may not be an Orion woman of that parallel universe (with whom the young Kirk does...what Kirk does).

      Hey Frank,

I was referring to the green male silhouette that we click onto; on our home page, login; the thingy where you can fill it in with a photo, avatar, whatever... I was just wondering why they've never come up with something that looks more like a female silhouette. No big deal.

But yes, my mom, dad and brothers loved Star Trek. But I basically grew up watching the reruns.( I'm the youngest of the bunch.) But I do remember the "green woman." It was a fantastic episode! My favorite though, has to be when Spock was able to feel emotions and broke down in tears. It was mind blowing!

Off topic of the off topic: I saw a promo for a new series on the science channel that begins July ( I believe.) It's called something like "Inside the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman." He's one of my favorite actors but of course isn't an expert in such things. So he's basically representing those who have elementary questions about physics and such. Another new series that will be a sci-fi will be called "Haven", based on a Stephen King story. It's all listed inside the Sunday paper, in the "Parade "section. It looks to be a great season of new series.

I'll bet anyone that they won't bring back Caprica, which would be a bummer.

I just clicked onto the link io9 that Alan provided and read a review on the movie Splice. They were divided as most reviews are. We were going to see it this weekend but didn't know if it is worth seeing. Adrien Brody is one of my favorite actors ( from The Pianist). But I'd like to just concentrate on the scientific technology of it, and the psychological aspects of the story--not caring that it's probably a long way from winning an Oscar.

Anybody see it over the weekend? Would it be great on IMAX? We have one of those now.
