A YouTube video links the Gulf oil spill to policy toward Israel.
Every time there's a disaster, someone figures out a reason why God would want to do this to us. It happened with Hurricane Katrina, and with the Haiti earthquake, and now it's happening with the Gulf oil spill.
A YouTube video lays out the case for blaming the spill on a change in U.S. policy toward Israel. The claim is that the Obama administration was signaling Israel that it would not use its veto on a U.N. Security Council resolution against Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem. The weeks-long back-and-forth over this issue turned up on Fox News' website on Israeli Independence Day, April 19 ... the day before the fatal April 20 oil-rig explosion that caused the spill!
There are alternative explanations, of course: The divine wrath could have marked the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, or Adolf Hitler's birthday and the 11th anniversary of the Columbine tragedy on April 20. But there's nary a mention of the mistakes that BP and other companies might have made before the blast. After all, those companies were merely doing God's work.
The oil spill thus serves in some quarters as yet another sign that the end times are nigh. On WorldNetDaily, doom-meister Hal Lindsey is quoted as saying "this is evidence that when you turn your back on Israel, especially when you've been a supporter, you're gonna see judgments come from God."
But the way Lindsey sees it, the disaster in the Gulf isn't the only problem.
"The current government is overturning our constitutional republic, turning into a socialist country," he's quoted as saying. "That's about as big a curse as you can get. We just have one catastrophe after another and then we have this big wakeup call in the gulf."
Lindsey noted that his concept of divine retribution in the Gulf is "not a popular view to take, by the way, as critics will say, 'There they go again.'"
I think that's one prophecy that will come true. What do you think?

Laughable. People who think like this are laughable.
The answer to the question is...no.
He's still working on Hitler.
God didn’t reject the Israelites, they rejected him. Just like the world for the most part is doing today by disobeying him. Is God getting ready to cut off the whole world and let mankind clean up their own mess?
Of course she is...It's not nice to f**k over Mother Nature. She'll get all those red states that ring the gulf, for voting for people that use and abuse her and bear false witness against those that want to protect her, she'll get those that vote for people that put profit and greed above basic safety and peoples lives and livelihoods, she'll get those two legged demons that harm all her children, the finned and the winged ...Hey the tropics are a brewing folks. Dear old Mom is going to shove that oil right down your throats and right up your wazoos. Enjoy.
gaia hates us
What nonsense! God is a myth.
You superstitious faith-heads are just as utterly ignorant and credulous as were early humans who attributed one or more of man's 8,000+ gods to each and every extraordinary human event or act of nature. Get your heads out of your butts already! Christianity, preparing young minds for careers in the 12th century.
Hey, give the christians a break, Crucie! Christianity is preparing young minds for careers in the 13th century!
ALAN-
WHY WOULD YOU EVEN ENTERTAIN THIS GARBAGE??? WHERE IS THE SCIENTIFIC MERIT HERE?!?!?! THIS IS GETTING TO BE RE-GODDAMN-ICULOUS...
Dude, stick to the science, hell- stick to science fiction, but this...This is ludicrous...
God doesn't need an exploding oil rig, nor an incompetent president, just to make a point.
religiousity, first we all know that televangelists are protected by the first amendment ,however because many of these people form churches they pay no taxes ....they don't pay on donations either solicited or freely given ,they don't pay on merchandise they sell, they don't pay on books the y sell even if they are political in nature not religious in nature ....So here's what we do.... when they speak from the pulpit they will be under penalty of tax only allowed to talk of matters of faith ,not politics, current events ,or who the flock should or should not vote for ...this will shut their disgusting mouths once and for all ..because as we all know w here at this site evangelism is just a dodge from doing a real job and getting taxed the way the rest of us do....but the repugnicans won't stand for this the lunatic fringe right -wing is their base ....DOG help us
The West Atlas rig and Montara wellhead platform in the off northwest Australia began leaking last August at a relatively shallow 650 feet (200 meters) beneath the sea. More than 400 barrels of oil a day stained the coasts of Indonesia and East Timor before mud pumped through a shut off the deepwater spigot 11 weeks later.
The much graver leak off the southern U.S. coast is pumping between 1.47 million and 2.52 million gallons a day .The leak that started in April occurred much deeper at 5,000 feet (1,520 meters).
Just Think about it. 74 days just below 650 feets
if you want socialism like in england vote democrat but if you would like theocratical dictatorship like the old holy roman empire please by all means vote for the republicans
Under-fire Singaporean pop singer Sun Ho, 40, has made the headlines again — this time in her adopted hometown of Los Angeles.
The wife of City Harvest Church founder and Reverend Kong Hee,– who are both helping police in a major investigation into the alleged misuse of church funds — is the subject of a blog post entitled “Singapore’s City Harvest Church Controversy Comes to the Hollywood Hills” on the LAWeekly Blogs website.
The short, 250-word post dated 22nd June is filed under the “Crime” category and comes with an old dated photo of Sun Ho.
Written by Patrick Range McDonald, the post starts off with, “Unbeknown to many Hollywood Hills residents, a major, developing controversy involving a wealthy Singapore minister and his widely influential mega-church has come to their posh neighborhood.”
It further goes on to call the investigation a “huge public relations gaffe for the embattled Hee and City Harvest Church”.
On its website, LAWeekly Blogs calls itself the “definitive source of daily information for news, music, movies, restaurants, and the arts in Los Angeles.” It’s unclear what is the website’s total readership.
Someone Needs to do Check and Balance not only to Big Corporation,Politicians,Judges, But to all US Churches & Charity Organisation for ANY MISUSED,SIPHONED ANY PUBLIC FUND.
You'll be surprise
Jack
WHAT? how did this end up as a post?
No, I'm sorry this time you did it to yourselves; you're being judged on how well you work together to neutralize the environment. If you can all work together and make it better than you left it, I'll promise a light hurricain season, but piss us off by not living up to your potential somemore, then there will be hell to pay.
I've always been curious about a rain of fire. I'm guessing something no one wants to see.
This is ridiculous to try to blame God for our own incompetence. WE, Mankind, has cursed the Gulf eco-system as well as the lives and livelihoods of millions of our fellow American with our complete disregard for God's awesome Creation. This is hack journalism that shows no deep understanding of Judaic or Christian theology. For Christians a quick reference to Paul in Roman's 1 reveals that the new covenant of adoption places both Jew and Gentile, in fact All nations as equal. Neten-yahoo might go for your notions as you want to pretend that Biblical interpretation should ignore any additions made since the Council of Nicea (312CE). As Paul also says in Roman's 1 (put in layman's terms for your sake) "But I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This gospel is nothing less than the power of God for salvation. A power that blows apart the empire, dethroning its pretentious claims, unveiling its lies for what they are. Why am I not ashamed of this gospel? Because through its power, life is put to rights." You want to shame God for what we did and then pin it on the Jews (as usual) How very American a take on this Apocalypse WE have brought upon ourselves.
To find out who is really responsible, to update Paul to current events: this unstoppable oil gusher in the Gulf along with our economy ineptitude since the collapse of the New York Stock Exchange in "08, he might have gone on to say something like this: "My friends, we are not facing an economic crisis. We are facing a spiritual crisis. The issue isn’t fundamentally the markets. The issue is idolatry at the very root and foundation of our society,at the very root and foundation of our very way of life, at the very root and foundation of our very souls. We are called to live in the truth, we are called to embody truth in our lives, but we have traded in the truth for a lie. Our imaginations have been taken captive, we can hardly dream of what life outside the grip of idolatry would l ook like; we can scarcely imagine a life that isn’t enslaved to consumption; we can’t even begin to get our heads around justice and righteousness; generosity and contentment are alien to us, and an economics of enough is impossible to conceive, let alone live.
And it is all so empty,it is all so foolish,it is all so senseless. May the love God, the grace of our savior Jesus Christ and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the name of the Christ Jesus, Amen."
Who writes your garbage.
American Kill over 1.5 million Muslim so called wars against terror they not only stop here now they making cartoon of God beloved Prophets Muhammad (SWAT), challenging his power , they will see more disaster in coming years.
Hah hah are you serious, where did you pull 1.5 million Muslims, sorry man maybe your thinking of the ww2 holocaust. But america hasnt killed over 1.5 million Muslims. Where are you getting your info?
Pirate- his was so misaligned, actually read it 2 times, and went on, made no sense
Don't want to get into a religious discussion here because I frankly couldn't give a rats ass about anyone else's opinion of God and I'm not interested in sharing mine, pearls before the swine and all, but why is it when there's a major accomplishment some politician such as Obama The Great or another associated weasel will jump up to take the credit but when there's a disaster it gets dumped in God's lap? Especially seeing that a whole lot of you fine folks don't believe in him in the first place. Hey, why don't we blame aliens or Bigfoot next time just to be fair? Night all and Obama bless.
What goes around comes around... Western countries based companies have been pillaging and causing havoc around the world. MNC based in US screwed up in Bhopal, India and its effects are seen even today. Now its the turn of Americans to feel how MNCs' (based in western nations) operate. Welcome to reality.
"Is God punishing the Gulf?" No, I don't think so - but there is NO QUESTION the republicans and the oil companies are!
It's time to STOP relying on oil for our energy - BEFORE it all leaks away!
Amen!
This is hack journalism with ZERO insight into Biblical reflection or interpretation disregarding the events of the past 2,000 years. This includes things like the New Testament and the brand new deal (Paul's Covenant of Adoption meaning there no longer is any preference among nations). I thought you guys were supposed to keep up on these kind of things but, no, you guys find a coincidence and then say that God hates us. You may be right but if He does it's for different reasons. (Hint: Look at what we've done to the Gulf). Dumb garbage in print and video MSNBC 24/7.
/facepalm
God gave us nothing, this earth was created over millions of years to the point it is now. Truth be told we were more likely to have been cross bred with outer space aliens, film at eleven.
Bill: Respectfully, I'm interested in knowing who you feel created the Earth if God didn't? Where did the aliens come from?
There’s two ways of life. The positive energy flow and the negative energy flow. God is the positive energy flow because he is light, positive, and so is His Heavenly Kingdom. And His Perfect Everlasting Heavenly Kingdom is problem FREE! WOW, A PROBLEM FREE WORLD. And ALL THE ANGLES THAT LIVE WITH HIM GIVES HIM UNQUESTIONED LOVING OBEDIENCE AND UNRESERVED TRUST, FAITH AND BELIEF. THIS CREATES UNITY AND PEACE. AND I AM GETTING READY TO GO TO HEAVEN, WHEN HE COMES IN THE EASTERN SKY AND TAKES ME TO HEAVEN WITH HIM. AND I AM INVITING ALL OF YOU TO GO WITH ME. THOSE OF YOU WHO REFUSE, THEN YOU CAN LIVE WITH SATAN, THE NEGATIVE FLOW OF ENERGY AND PERISH WITH HIM.
You missed Hale-Bopp, James. Too late. They left without you.
James- do we have to go with you?Maybe we would be mis-directed- and stop typing in caps it is considered rude, as well as yelling- as God's self-appointed envoy- do you want to look rude?
LOL! Alan's got a sense of humor! He baits us, we bite and he's ROTFL at our replies! But seriously, everyone, you realize it's logically impossible for an "eternal" God to intervene in a time-constrained universe, right? To do that would mean he'd be both eternal and temporal at the same time. Not even God could achieve that! It's like simultaneously existing but not existing. Or God creating a rock so big that he can't lift it. It just can't be done. Nobody, not even God, can perform logical impossibilities. And you know that early Greek philosophers and Jewish, Christian and Muslim theologians arrived at the same conclusion, right? The latter reckoned it was a blasphemy to think of God as an entity of any sort, especially one with whom we could have a personal relationship. They concluded that God was beyond description and beyond knowing. If pushed, the best description of God they could come up with was that he was like a pure form of consciousness that was totally preoccupied with itself - but they recognized that even that description was totally inadequate. By their logical analysis, however, he certainly wasn't involved on a day-to-day basis with events in this universe due to the fact that everything inside this universe is subject to time (and they thought the universe was infinite back in those days). Today we know that the universe is finite so we might try to postulate the existence of a God outside of the universe and, therefore, outside of time as we know it. But even outside of time God can't "do" anything because if he did, any such event would mark the beginning or start of a "now" and if you have a "now" there must also be a "before" and an "after". And these are the verbal markers we use to describe the passage of ..... yep, you guessed it... time. Heck, that eternal characteristic of God is such a nuisance! The sad thing is that not everyone got the gist of what the theologians and philosophers meant by all this. It seems that we love to think we can call on an invisible father-figure whenever we feel like it to help us resolve issues that are beyond our specific understanding or abilities. You know, issues like life and death, making crops grow, winning wars, feeling good about ourselves, explaining natural (or unnatural) events, etc. And it's the theists who don't know or don't understand the practical implications of their definition of God's character who get the attention of other equally ignorant folk and so perpetuate the myth of a personal God - who's now apparently meting out punishment on the inhabitants of USA via a gushing oil well. LOL!
I live in the south and can tell you first hand that this crap is being spewed in every church down here just as it is all over the country, my step-mother tells me about it every Sunday after her church service is over. People need to open their eyes and look at reality, this was not God taking vengence on the US for not backing Israel, or taking vengence on homosexuals, or for the American citizens electing an african-american as president. This was plain and simple GREED at its most basic level.
Anyone who believes that there is a "higher being" that can control the planets, stars, mankind, the animal kingdom etc etc etc blah blah blah and yada yada yada is an absolute blithering idiot, and yes I include my step-mother in that category as well. I do not believe in God, Satan, Heaven, Hell, organized religion or any of the other bull marlarky that the majority of the general world populace believes in. The bible is nothing but a bunch of bed-time stories to scare the ever-loving crap out of kids so that they will behave and mind their parents and grow up and be mindless little drones like the majority of society. Oh we must be good citizens or God will punish us. We must donate to the church or God will punish us. Who in their right mind wants ANYTHING to do with a God that is vengeful, hateful, murderous, and downright heinous?
