A Texas hunter's infrared camera captures a view of a deer ... and also lights that appear to hover in the sky. Those lights were later traced to a camera glitch. Watch an Aug. 25 video report from KXAS's Omar Villafranca.

The UFO debate usually focuses on official reports that go back years or decades — but strange things are still being seen in the sky, by folks just like you.

The years-old reports are the subject of dueling commentaries by NBC News space analyst James Oberg and Leslie Kean, author of the book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record." Others are weighing in as well, including a colleague of mine at LiveScience, Robert Roy Britt, who calls this a "classic UFO battle." Such battles have been fought inconclusively over stories ranging from the 1947 Roswell incident (which gets only a passing mention in Kean's book) to the 2006 O'Hare incident (which merits an entire chapter).

But what about your stories?

Over the years, Cosmic Log correspondents have sent in oodles of stories, not only about UFOs but about alien encounters as well. And the stories are piling up at the Mutual UFO Network, the National UFO Reporting Center, the National UFO Center and other ufological outfits.

One of the more recent cases to make the news involved a Texas hunter named Lisa Brock-Piekarski, who noticed some spooky lights that appeared to hover in the background of a night-vision image snapped by a game-tracking camera. Could this be a follow-up to the Stephenville UFO sightings of 2008? For a while, some thought so. But MUFON investigators eventually figured out that it was a camera glitch: The shutter stayed open long enough to catch a ghostly image of the infrared strobe's LED lgihts.

That's one more UFO case closed, but there are thousands of other cases out there — and not every one gets attention from investigators. Which means there are always a lot of strange sightings out there that you'll never hear about. So what's the best way to handle your own strange sightings?

First, be aware that common objects can look uncommonly strange under the right conditions. It may sound ridiculous to suggest that Venus or Jupiter can be mistaken for flying spaceships, but there's a perceptual trick known as the "autokinetic effect" that can make stationary objects in the sky appear to move. (Space.com's Joe Rao wrote about this last month.) Another effect, known as pareidolia, can make indistinct objects (like the Face on Mars) look as if they have a distinctive shape.

Atmospheric phenomena ranging from lenticular clouds to sundogs have been perceived as unidentified flying objects, as have aircraft and rocket boosters. Even floating Chinese lanterns and whipped-up wind turbines have triggered alien alarm bells. Meteor fireballs have also sparked UFO reports. As a matter of fact, reports of a meteor-style impact in Colombia are currently stirring up a buzz on the Internet.

Kean points out that at least 95 percent of all unidentified flying objects are eventually identified. That's why it's important to get the details right when you experience a strange sighting. Here are some of the viewing tips we've talked about in the past:

  • Take pictures, but don't try to enhance your images after the fact.
  • Ask other folks in the area to take note of what they've seen, and compare notes.
  • Make an accurate log of times and locations — which is becoming an easier task in this world of mobile phones equipped with GPS and clocks.
  • If your sighting is spectacular (or scary), contact local news media or file a report with the UFO centers mentioned above. But chances are that the police won't be able to do much unless a crime has been committed (such as an abduction, alien or otherwise).

Is there a mysterious sighting you've just been waiting to get off your chest? Or is there a UFO mystery you were able to solve? Either type of story is welcome here. Feel free to discuss it in your comments below.

In September 1973, at about noon--in broad daylight--near Filer, Idaho, my girlfriend and I were talking in my car on the highway in front of her farmhouse. I noticed three objects approaching from the northwest and moving toward the southeast. At first I thought they were helicopters from the Air National Guard at Twin Falls, but realized there was no sunlight reflecting from the blades. The three objects passed less than half a mile from us. I know this because they were on our side of a ridge that was three-quarters of a mile away and the objects were no more than 200 feet above the ground.

The three craft were egg shaped. I estimated them to be about 50 by 30 feet in size with the large end forward. I remember thinking at the time that they were the darkest colored aircraft I had ever seen. They were a dull matte black, similar to the shade of the SR-71s, which I saw ariel refueling many times in later years. There were no wings, ports, or visible means of propulsion. There appeared to be panels on the sides, that is, several discontinuous lines that appeared to be seams. I heard no sound. A striking thing was that the craft occasionally bobbed up and down slightly--no more than perhaps a foot--in very abrupt motions. I remember thinking at the time that weightless objects might move like that in a breeze. The objects held formation until they passed over a ridge to the southeast.

In 1973 there were a rash of UFO sightings across southern Idaho. I kept reading the newspaper hoping to see another report of the same craft, but no similar UFOs were reported, although there were a number of other sightings of different unexplained lights and objects. I have posted this story several times in recent years, hoping someone saw something similar elsewhere. I was inclined to think perhaps the three craft were some sort of secret military project, possibly with internal propulsion fans, then in later years, possibly an early stealth prototype. However, I could see the bottom of the craft to the mid-keel, and there were no visible openings--even ridges that might have suggested slotted thrust vents. Within a year or so of my sighting the Army released photos of a two-person craft, supposedly for forward observation, but it was the size of a bubble cockpit of a small helicopter, not 50 feet long, and it had a big prop housing out the rear like a swamp boat. I thought maybe it was a cover story if the craft I saw were flying on a regular basis. Except for the lack of visible propulsion, and the bobbing, I did not think extraterrestrial when I saw the three craft. But in 35 years I have never seen a description of a similar military craft.

Later that winter, I visited a friend in Utah and told him the story and made a drawing of the three craft. He told me three similar craft had appeared over the Ogden Municipal Airport in the same week at mid-day. His father call the civilian tower and they said they saw them visually but not on radar. His father then called Hill Air Force Base tower and they said they had nothing visually or on radar.

UFO Observation at U of O campus, A Few Contextual Remarks

Indeed, another greybeard! I read the postings submitted by others before carefully submitting my first entry to an on line forum, and have read the additional material which has since been added about this controversial subject. At the time of my particular observation in the 1960s computer science was theoretical, we used slide rules in our computations and Texas Instruments scientific calculators were relatively new to the market and cost around $165, a lot of money in the currency of that time. There was then little to compare an experience like mine to so the prudent thing was to 'cool it' in favor of maintaining credibility and a reputation for sound judgment.

Since posting my description I have scanned this forum seeking validation, a submission identifying the same object contained in my report and am perplexed to find none quite the same. Instead I read a variety of analogous entries which do not precisely authenticate my version of events. Even so, some of them provide useful descriptions using contemporary language and insight not available to me earlier on. For example one writer compares an instance of flight to the motion of a screen cursor, its abrupt motion to the contributor's perception of an object's velocity and trajectory. This accurately characterizes my impression of the operation of the object I observed. I recall the thing's flight path, not an instant displacement but a swift and discernible flight between station points in the order of between 1000 to 1200 feet laterally. Another impression more vividly expressed by others concerns what may have been a manifestation of some force field since it faintly hummed almost inaudibly but sufficient to convey an impression of some high energy technology. In view of descriptors not available to me at the time the mechanism behaved as if programmed rather than maneuvered from within.

I have supplemented my initial report with perhaps more conjecture than necessary based on more current updates. What all of this suggests to me is a strong likelihood that our solar system may be the subject of reconnaissance from beyond and that implies more advanced civilizations than ours have survived their own technological hazards which is potentially encouraging. Also it may be that our habitation is being inventoried as a possible resource, not an agreeable prospect based on world history or our position in relationship to a larger context in the scheme of things beyond our knowledge.

I wouldn't worry too much about that, Gerry Hurley. I think we are depleting the good rare earth sources and we are probably getting close to eliminating ourselves. But then maybe the harvest is upon us. BTW there are many U of Os.

Okay pal...I agree with you except that the damage we have inflicted on ourselves and our habitat is a different topic. The world history I am thinking of concerns the pattern of relationships arising from encounters between indigenous peoples and technologically advanced civilizations. From that it seems unreasonable to expect redemptive consideration, salvation or a pardon from anywhere outside our solar system by any power greater than mankind. I don't think beings more advanced than humans would offer outside assistance if we were able to communicate with them.

I have two stories. The first is when I was probably around 4 or 5, maybe 6. Our family went to visit another family.I was playing on the floor with toy cars when the adult conversation captured my attention. Whomever we went to visit ( I asked my mother a few years ago and she does not remeber the visit or who the people were...some 45 years ago) the man started to tell my parents about a bright trash can shapped UFO that everyone pulled off the road to watch. It was night time that the event happened, and it was also night time when we went home. We had a 50's type car and as I often did was stand on the floor in the front of the car between the front seat and the dash with my arms on the top of the dash . This time though I was looking up through the windsheild at the stars for what ever they were talking about.

The second is I lived 2 blocks away from my elementary school. I had morning kindergarten and used to walk home in the afternoon. one day walking home for some unknown reason I looked up. There was high up in the air to my right a gray gigar shapped object. I have thought about this for close to 50 years. I did not know what or what was not supposed to be in the air , also I did not really start thinking about this till maybe in my 20's. It could have been a blimp and don't forget I was around 6. As I grew up blimps were a summer occurance quite frequantly. I have to say from what I remeber the object was perfectly silent .had no markings or fins, condolla, motors..etc. Also where it was, If it were a blimp I would have seen it a block away. Blimps were also noisey...you could hear them befor e you would see them, then again... there might have been engine noise, fins, gondolla..just a 6 year olds memory...then again maybe not.

Just wanted to add for the people that do not beleive in UFOs...we ourselves have travelled to another planet in a spaceship and been "aliens" taking samples. Imagine what and where we will be going 10k years from now....hard to beleive it was only a few 100 years ago we thought we would sail off the end of the earth...look how miconceived that idea was.

something else...the first responders book, printed by the government printing office for first responders has a section on UFOs. if they were not real then why would there be a chapter on the subject. You can google to read the whole chapter or by the manaul on Amazon.

The galaxy contains perhaps 300 to 400 billion stars and the Universe that it floats in is unimagineably vast and expanding. Even though intelligent beings may exist elsewhere, it would be against extreme odds that they could contact us within the brief space-time continuum that we might exist together. If we ever have contact, however, it will be the the most momentous event in the history of our species.

I have been having experiences for a long time, but I didn't actually begin to take them seriously until maybe the last couple of years.  I finally called MUFON, and a field investigator came to the house.  We talked for about 3 hours and I told her everything.  She said my experiences were similar to other reports they've received, except that she's never heard of anyone having as much frequency or close contact before.  She said my experiences are beyond anything that she is aware of, including the famous cases.  She decided not to file my report, for the sake of my family's privacy.  My thoughts are with all of you who are struggling with this alone, in silence.  I totally understand what you are going through.

One day, (my country is Sri lanka)one of my friends said he saw a UFO. Everyone laughed at him, and he quickly got quiet and never mentioned it again. One of my other friends took him serious and asked him more. I got interested too, and asked him for a full description.

It was at his house, when he was keeping his window in his room open, he saw an oval shaped object traveling towards his house ( A 2 storey house, his room is on the top floor) the UFO was about level with his house's roof, and seemed to emit Red , Green and an Orange color (I can't remember the 3rd color, Orange or Blue) He didn't notice anything special, except the fact that it was 'faster than anything I've ever seen in my life' It hovered on top of his house, where it was not visible (but the lights were, I think) and took off suddenly, and a second later, it was gone so quick, he didn't notice anything. As he says, there was not even a second for acceleration(as the object was quite huge)

What I learned next is what creeps me out. After talking to my friend, (if he sighted the object yesterday, he told me today about it) I searched for anyone else sighting it. Having found no one, I dropped it. But when I was watching the news, the same details, the same story was witnessed by people in a large area (all of whom were just strangers to each other) and 1 of the persons, had seen 2 very odd people 'scurrying' into a nearby forest, and after following them, had found overturned soil, and also a place with all the wild grass just in a shape of a crop circle, although not bearing any shape to the spun around weeds( this place was later looked at by experts and others concerning the subject). Another person, who had gone bathing in the village tank, on the middle of the forest, had seen 2 people (again) 'scurrying' on, half running. She got scared that they were going to kidnap her, so she ran all the way home (about 60 years old)

This appered everywhere, from magazines to newspapers in our country, and I beleive my friend and the other people were telling the truth for many reasosn

1.In our country, people are very strict regarding lies, and other pranks.

                  2. The difference between every individual (from 60 year old bathing ladies, to 13 year old kids) shows it may not be a prank. And beleiev me, a 60 year old woman wouldn't lie in saying something like this.

                  3. Our people (seriously) had better things to do (as the Tamil group L.T.T.E. was attacking our country)

My friend never told anyone about it, and half the people he told forgot about it. I'm now up to the job of completing this very weird case, bu obtaining more info about everything and looking up papers to confirm the time line of the other subjects. Maybe I can find out the speed of which it traveled. Or maybe more than just that. But 1 thing I'm sure of, my friend did not lie. After he had seen the object, he had told another friend just afterward, proving he didn't make this up. I wish I saw it too....(it happened 2 years ago, when he was 14 years old-same age as me and my classmates)

My grandfather had a bull mutilated on his farm back in the 70s. The incision was (from what I've heard as I was not there to witness it) was surgical of nature, almost like a laser had done it and there was no blood leaking from the bull. The dogs wouldn't go anywhere near the carcass and in fact acted terrified of it. My grandparents are very religious and don't believe in ufos, nor do the locals in that area (very conservative community, small town). The event was blamed on a nearby community group of devil worshippers (although I highly doubt there were any "devil worshippers" in a 50 mile radius in this part of the country lol). There are a few more events about the night of the mutilation that are pretty creepy. But not sure anyone cares to hear.

Also, at my dad's farm (same area, but about 15 mi SE) I've experienced some strange happenings. I've never seen anything ufo or et-related, but I've felt vibrations move over the house (no sounds), these vibrations also cause static on the tv. The vibrations are very strong and can be felt from within. One time I was laying in bed watching tv and I literally felt it move from my head, through my torso (I was pregnant with my 1st at the time and the vibration actually made my baby kick), down my toes and a few seconds later when it reached the tv, the tv buzzed and got very fuzzy until the thing passed. It seemed to move at a steady pace of 1 ft per second. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? The farm isn't under any flight paths or near an airport. However an AFB is about 60 miles due south of our farm. My only explanation is maybe the AF was collecting images or something. It's really the only logical explanation I can come up with.

Just recently, well...last summer, my dad and his girlfriend saw a large silver cigar-shaped ufo near her home. It was so high up in the sky that they could hardly see it until my dad got his binoculars out of his truck (we love watching wildlife so binoculars are always within arms reach). The only thing that got the attention of my dad's girlfriend when she first saw it was a small glare coming from the sky. She only looked up because she thought it was an airplane. She asked my dad if it was (he's been in the field of aviation, pilot & mechanic, for over 30 years) and he couldn't tell so he grabbed the binoculars from the truck. It wasn't until then that they noticed it wasn't moving, just sitting there, then disappeared. No wings, no tail. Just a cigar shaped looking thing.

Oh, one more thing, at my dad's farm, I've experienced multiple episodes of sleep paralysis. Very strange and scary at times. I don't experience it at my own home 750 miles away. It's getting to the point where I don't go visit my dad unless my husband is able to come with me :(

I have a pair of questions, asked in all sincerity.

Let's assume that UFO's are real, and that they are alien craft of come type.

Also, for the sake of discussion, let's also assume that our government is fully aware of their existence.

The question - If you were "in charge" (advising the president, perhaps, or the military), what would you do about it? And perhaps more specifically, what would NASA be tasked with?

My concern - I don't believe that the NASA we've had for the past fifty years, and in particular, the NASA we see for the next ten, looks like a program that you would design if you were concerned about alien UFO's.

                  Am I missing something?

                  Thanks! ~Michael (http://astronomy.fm/rad)

I have heard 2 Presidents mention UFOs and a third sort of. There is a video tape of Harry Trueman, asked by a reporter what he was discussing in a meeting , I have never heard what the reporter asked, Trueman replied something to the sort. "we often discuss flying saucers, but not this time" . I heard Bill Clinton interviewed by that guy that does those "your life type" interviews. Bill Clinton said "one of the first things I did when I became president, was to tried to find out if Roswell really happened." I heard Reagan say one time about being attacked from space, the whole world would forget their differences and bond together...probably said it different and did not say space.

As far as NASA, From what I gather a lot of the astronauts have seen UFOs , Buzz Aldrin for one. I heard that was one of the reasons they stopped the live feeds of mission control to the astronauts.

well If aliens do exist, and they have craft that can travel galaxies, they would be very advanced and well we are sort of like the indians peering out of the bushes at the sailing ships coming over the horizon. There is nothing much we can do about it. If they ever do make contact with us our science and math would be so inferrior, possibly they might be amussed by our art or music. Actually if they did evolve someway, they two may have had an orville and wilber wright many thousands of yers ago and would find our world a sort of living museum, though not exactly simular. Also with string theory, there is now possible 11 dimensions...so maybe they exist here in another dimension ...sounds strange...but so does going to the moon to someone in the 7th century.

Regarding Buzz Aldrin's UFO - see his explanation while on CNN, in his own words:

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7RUwbqrO08

That particular Apollo 11 UFO is identified.

Other astronaut stories, however, may merit further discussion.

                    LA1,

Our art may actually be quite interesting to an alien race, everything from the mediums used to the emotions created from looking at them, or their interpretations of such. Modern people are still entranced by works of art from thousands of years ago even though, by our standards they are more primitive in some respects. Other things are more or less eternal to us. Art is still art and it depends on both the creator and the observer so I do not think that our art will be looked down upon so much. Our morals and how we have taken care of this world, that will be a different matter, especially our power structures within society!

Personally, I think we have been observed for a long long time and that our Government knows for Sure that they are there. I also believe that we have samples of said craft, from crashes, ones we have captured, possibly traded etc. and that some of our Corporations and Governments have access to this technology. Besides the old reason on 'Not scaring the populace' I also think that the Corporations and figures within Governments are holding onto and keeping the technology secret so as to wring the most profits out of existing tech, for their own greed and power. Imagine, if we had devices that could power our homes forever, for free, without any sort of emissions, how would they profit, as opposed to our very old oil technology which they profit from handsomely. Greed, power and total control of the masses have been a dream of many different groups since Civilization began. As we have gained greater technology some of those types must Surely have found it convenient to limit the tech available to the masses. As we have seen with the recent global economy meltdown, such systems can be manipulated by a rather small number of operators so that only THEY profit, (think Goldmann/Sachs). Why can they not have essentially done the same thing with tech and space travel. Keeping us here on this ball of rock, with dwindling resources surely gives them the upper hand as far as political and economic power over the rest of us. I have seen many things that were shown to be major tech advances that suddenly disappear and one never hears about them again. It makes me think of Pinky and The Brain: "Gee Brain, what are we going to do tonight?" "We are going to take over the World Pinky. Just like we always do!"

It is widely believed that during WWII the Germans made deals with the malevolent beings to acquire their technology. Hence the German Bell Project. (Remember the glowing orbs seen by both sides dubbed fooo fighters?) And in order to have the same technology, the US government also made deals with this evil beings. (Research MJ12) So unlike other countries who are free to acknowledge UFO's, such as Canada, Mexico, Japan, Belgium, Great Britain, France etc, our government refuses to acknowledge the existence of UFOs publicly! Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan both reported seeing UFOs. Check out this website with a list of quotes such as:

"Mission control, we have a UFO pacing our position, request instructions Astronaut Cady Coleman
NASA Transmission - Shuttle Mission STS-

"All Apollo and Gemini flights were followed, both at a distance and sometimes also quite closely, by space vehicles of extraterrestrial origin - flying saucers, or UFOs, if you want to call them by that name.

Every time it occurred, the astronauts informed Mission Control, who then ordered absolute silence."

One autumn day back in the 1980s, my wife and I were driving on the New York State Thruway, headed south toward Poughkeepsie. It was a clear and sunny afternoon. Suddenly we noticed a bright orange "speck of light" travelling across the sky, perpendicular to our own course, in what appeared to be a straight path. It's size within my visual field was very small but so bright that you couldn't miss it. It crossed the entire arc of the sky in perhaps 8 or 10 seconds and was obviously very distant - I would have guessed fifty to one hundred miles up and about that same distance laterally (along the ground). It intermitantly shed a contrail or debris trail behind it, leaving spurious "dashes" of white marking its path. We were both rivited by the spectacular display, but not alarmed, as it didn't seem to pose any threat to us. It was clearly something very unique, unlike anything we had ever seen before. Later that evening on the national news we learned what it was. An old Soviet satalite had fallen back to Earth and its fiery reentry was visible in northern Pennsylvania and southern New York. What a show!

One night on my way home very late, I looked up and saw a huge, brilliant phosphorescent green cone of light, apparently swimming (ie moving slowly) across the night sky. The cone diminished in brightness away from the nose, and the light it cast looked positively alien, with varying hues of green bleeding into each other seemlessly like a monochromatic rainbow. The next day I read that it had been a missile test (which I believe)

I have also had a UFO hover directly over my head (see below), so I believe in both missile tests and extremely advanced craft ;)

I urge you not to dismiss me or my story.I dont need goverment disclosure.I believe in the words of Edgar Mitchell and my own visual encounter. The craft was egg shaped or ovid. It was white illuminated like your computer screen. lights around it's rim (red, blue, yellow and green) and the size was about 3 to 4 gymnasiums in volume and about 300 ft from me at a hieght of about 50 ft . Now i have disclosed to you. Will you believe? You should because I just would not lie about something so important! Also the Canadian air force did a fly over 15 minutes after the craft zoomed into space in the direction of the north star.

Alan Boyle's article mentions that James Oberg—who is challenging the validity of the material found in journalist Leslie Kean’s excellent new book on UFOs--is currently a Science analyst with NBC. Oberg is a founding member of a rather interesting organization, the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) now renamed the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI).

Actually, CSI is a "skeptical" organization in name only when it comes to the subject of UFOs. For the real story, including the very interesting and generally-unacknowledged government affiliations of some of it's key members, including James Oberg, go to my website, www.ufohastings.com, and read my article "Reporter Duped by UFO Debunkers."

My own research on UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites--as confirmed by declassified U.S. government documents and ex-military eyewitness testimony--will be presented at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. on September 27, 2010. At that press conference, seven ex-USAF personnel will divulge their knowledge of UFO incursions at ICBM sites and nuclear weapons depots during the Cold War era.

So, what does this have to do with CSI? Well, the organization's magazine, Skeptical Inquirer, has been edited since the early 1980s by Kendrick Frazier, whose profession is listed as "Science Writer" in the publisher's statement. Not mentioned (even in Frazier's own online bio) is the fact that he worked for 20+ years as a Public Relations Specialist at Sandia Labs, a leading nuclear weapons laboratory.

Also not mentioned in Skeptical Inquirer magazine, but discussed in my article (referenced above) is the fact that James Oberg, a leading UFO debunker at CSI, was a USAF Security Officer for nukes-related information who once privately chastized another former USAF officer, Dr. Bob Jacobs, for leaking classified Top Secret information about the Big Sur UFO case. Fortunately, Jacobs published the key portions of Oberg's letter. All of the documented details relating to this are available at my website.

So, when someone claims that James Oberg's group CSI (CSICOP) is an objective, skeptical organization that has no ax to grind when it comes to the release of sensitive UFO-related info, please send them to my website.

Robert, thanks so much for your efforts on this issue. Please consider posting this info on Amazon.com, under Oberg's review of Kean's book. Or even maybe as its own review so that it appears headlined.

Hi Jonah, I doubt you are a crackpot. It behooves you to be sure to test the spirit(s) and be sure they are of Christ as instructed in 1John. 4:1-3 If you do not believe in Jesus, then at least test them to see if they know God. The UFO phenomenon has a religious foundation. Sooner than later, all eyes will witness that which cannot be hidden as the indoctrination is almost over. Not all who visit this planet are friendly or apathetic. Some hate mankind and if allowed, would cause man great harm. Think cattle mutilations. Read Raymond E. Fowler's book of the experiences of Betty Andreasson Luca 'The Watchers' to gather a greater understanding. Consider if the animals of your planet might speak? They might ask why you abduct, tranquilize, test, poke, prode, inject and tag and return them to their habitat? You would answer for their own good. To check the effects of environmental conditions on their health, reproduction/sterilization, extinction, etc. And we do the same.

In 1978 my mother, stepfather and I had a UFO hover directly over our heads (N. California), close enough to hit with a rock if we were stupid enough to try such a thing. As a five year old I stood there in complete amazement, and all I remember thinking was, "SPACESHIP!!!" It was completely silent, and when it left it started off slowly and then turned into a streak and vanished over the horizon in the blink of an eye. My world was changed forever, and my mom and I still talk about it from time to time. The implications of that level of technology operating in our skies for decades, with the attendant cover-up by the gov't and the despicable debunkers are HUGE, whether they are man-made or E.T. I don't honestly know where what we saw originated, but I do know for a fact that UFOs are real. The cover-up makes the whole issue just that more interesting and frustrating.

One night in the early 90's my wife and I decided to lay out on the carport roof and watch the stars. It was a cool night and the sky was really nice and clear even though we were in a suburb of Seattle.

After a short while we both noticed a dark shape blocking out the stars directly above us heading North. There were no running lights of any kind. It was rectangular and around the size of half a football field, although it was difficult to make out how high up it was so it could have been even bigger. It was silent and moving slowly, blocking out the view of the stars as it went along.

We both stood up as soon as we first saw it and tracked it as far as we could, but trees got in the way and when we made it down to the alley it was gone.

I saw a small metallic ball hovering around the wing on my flight in the mid 1990's, one of the strangest things I ever saw- always bothered me to this day.

Ok here is my one UFO indecent. Was in late June 2004 when myself and a colleague had to be to work at 3 AM (Guam) so driving down Marine Corp Drive in separate cars at around 2:15 AM and we both noticed a very strange red light streak through the sky. Its original path was almost exactly straight down the sky at an incredible velocity and then took a almost complete 90 degree turn and shoot off out of view at the same velocity without ever slowing down. The object seemed to both of us to be extremely distant and not necessarily located in atmosphere. There was no vapor or smoke trail so I dismissed any thought of it being a meteorite but have never truly been able to identify what it was. Unfortunately the indecent happened so quickly I was unable to grab any recording device but it is notable that I immediately called my colleague who was driving in front of me and he also had noticed the exact same thing, to the point where I just beat him to the call.

If you all want to see some weird stuff, just get a good pair of 3rd Gen night vision goggles and start watching the sky at night. I've seen the giant glowing spheres (with no night vision gear), cigar shaped objects with rows of lights, a huge (larger than a 747), silent, black object that looked like two different sized footballs connected by a tube that could fly at slow speed then jump vertically 500 feet in the blink of an eye and continue horizontal flight, and literally hundreds of extremely high speed objects (near nuclear storage sites) that can go horizon to horizon in one or two seconds. We are definitely not alone and this stuff is not military. It would not be possible to construct stuff as big as say the huge spheres and keep it secret from prying eyes since it would have to be built outdoors.

I just wanted to add my experience. Its from a different perspective than most. Back in 1993, having been friends, best friends, I should add, with a childhood buddy of mines for maybe 20 years, I got a call from my brother. It seems his wife had talked to HER mother about a sighting the night before. What made this story so chilling was that occurred at the exact time of night, was at the exact position in the sky with respect to the vantage points of all involved, and was described the same in all (4) cases. My friend, his wife, were about 4 miles from their home in L.A.; His mother was at their home; His cousin was at her home a block away; and a neighbor was 3 blocks away from her home which is across the street from His (my friends). This happened about 10:15p.m. that night: Friend and wife are coming down a small hill that faces south towards a busy airline corridor that is used by LAX airport. They see what at first the thought was an airplane, but this object stopped in mid-air. So now its got their attention. It has windows that are all lit up, glowing. It seems to hover, more like a copter, but just what kind of helicopter, they thought? Then when it dawned on them that it wasn't a copter, thats when they saw the defining sight: it reversed directions and flew back to where it had come from, at a jaw-dropping speed. At that same moment, the neighbor, coming home from a church function, turns onto the street she lives on and immediately stops: she sees a saucer-shaped object, with lit-up windows coming right at her. Remember, she's about 4 miles from my friend, so she is roughly under the flight path of the airplane path to LAX. In her description, she says it looked like it was coming at her and she panicked: she put her car in reverse and then turned around and went to a relatives! This was repeated with his mom and cousin, only different views. So when I got wind of the story, naturally I wanted to poke fun at my buddy. But his reaction is the reason I'm relating this story. I caught up to him and thought it would be the first thing out of his mouth, and in hindsight, being his best friend, he really should have called me first with the story. But after some small talk, I couldn't take the suspense anymore, so I said, "So, they tell me you saw a UFO the other night" His reaction gives me chills to this day. He turned away, with tears forming in his eyes, and said "Man, I don't know what I saw". 17 years later he will not talk about it. He became an alcoholic shortly after that. His neighbor that saw it, still tries to this day to talk about it. But only a few will even listen. So most of the time she keeps it to herself. Think about it: if you saw something with YOUR own eyes, how many of your friends or relatives would believe it you if they didn't? Really think about it.

If any governments have contacted ETs (I am reasonably sure the U.S. has, and probably the U.K., too.), then it is absolutely vital that the entire human population on this Earth be told, if the collective intelligence of mankind is to ever progress beyond a self centered state of infancy, where the human race see itself as the only intelligent race in the Universe, and therefore believes that the entire Universe exists solely for mankind. This blindness to potential threats from the outside needs to be overcome, and I personally believe this to be very critical, because I personally believe that a very grave threat looms over our entire precious world from the outside, one which could easily lead to the future conquest and extinction of all mankind on this Earth. - Rick Carter
