UFO investigator adds to debate

Suppose we find confirmed evidence of extraterrestrial life, either in the form of an alien signal or microbes on Mars. Now what? British UFO investigator Nick Pope addresses that question in a follow-up e-mail that I've added to last week's posting on post-detection policy. He strongly suggests that the U.N. should be setting policies on the "what-to-do" issue. Take a second look, and weigh in with your own view.

We'll identify an Earth-like planet with water within five years. It'll have life but who knows what.

It is the US military/intelligence community which does not want the truth about advanced aliens visiting from outer space to be revealed, since that would undermine US military and economic dominance of the world. The agencies have spread disinformation about aliens trying to make them seem dangerous and 'demonic'. This elaborate coverup has been going on for almost 60 years. And here we go! The human race steals the technology from the Aliens in order to go out into deep space and spread War, Pollution and our own brand of Resource Theft all the while killing of all indigenous lifeforms....Great. Maybe it is a good thing that we are, for the most part, stuck in low-earth orbit!

Maybe the best thing is that the human race dies out after depleting the Earth of all of it's gifts!

They are not "aliens". They are our progenitors.

Based on our own historical data (the wild west, the Colombus 'discovery', and the thousands of wars trying to 'impose' idealisms and regimes), I have serious doubts that we would benefit any remote civilizations from our contact. Nothing has changed in our behaviour through the years; we are no longer riding horses to steal people's land, but sophisticated airships and much stronger artilleries for similar purposes. At the end, as sad as it sounds, is about what can I get, not what can I give.

We are searching, but I agree of the importance of the question: and then, what? .. are we learning or teaching; are we taking or giving; are we healing or destroying? .. and, who will be 'in charge' to represent us all? Because, from the political point of view, we are a global mess, and if we try to lean to religion, we are even more fanatic and dengerous. If we find, it means we are more adavanced civilization, which I hope we donot repeat the 'almirant' recipe.
