Is this truly the video that UFO skeptics have been dreading? Actually, a compilation of 17-month-old video clips from a Chilean military air show is stirring up predictable responses from both sides of the UFO debate, but no dread.
For those who are inclined to believe that some unidentified flying objects exhibit characteristics beyond what our technology seems capable of, the El Bosque case could represent the latest, greatest evidence for flying saucers.
"This is a very, very unusual case, and I'm hoping that this case will help move forward the recognition that there really is something here that's worthy of further study. ... It has the possibility of being a breakthrough case," said investigative journalist Leslie Kean, the author of the book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record."
But for those who think even the toughest cases can be explained away as video glitches, bugs or other tricks of the eye, the El Bosque case is just more of the same.
"They're 'unexplained cases' only if you ignore the explanation," self-described debunker Robert Sheaffer told me. "That's what's going to happen in this case."
Genesis of an anomaly
The case goes back to an air show that was staged in November 2010, at Chile's Air Force academy, which is headquartered at the El Bosque Air Force Base in Santiago. Nothing untoward was noticed by anybody during the show itself, but Kean said an engineer at the nearby aircraft factory noticed an anomalous spot as he was sifting through video taken from the show, looking for an image that could be used as a poster photo.
The spot appeared to move quickly from frame to frame, and the engineer thought it looked enough like some sort of craft to notify the Chilean government agency in charge of investigating anomalous aerial phenomena, known by the Spanish acronym CEFAA.
The way Kean tells it, CEFAA investigators looked around for other video clips of the event and pieced together six additional views of the spot-shaped phenomena. Ricardo Bermudez, a retired Chilean Air Force general who is now CEFAA's director, told a UFO conference last month that his agency consulted with other officials, image-processing experts and "non-believer astronomers." CEFAA's conclusion was that the spots were caused by an object traveling through the scene at speeds in excess of 4,000 mph — so fast that it went unnoticed by air-show spectators.
"Humans inside this object could not survive," Kean and a co-author, former New York Times investigative reporter Ralph Blumenthal, wrote in a Huffington Post report appearing on Tuesday. "And, somehow, it made no sonic boom..."
Kean told me that the El Bosque case was notable for several reasons: "I think what's exceptional about this is that the investigation was thoroughly managed by a government agency." Also, she said, "it's something you can actually see with your own eyes." The fact that the object shows up on seven videos from the same event, recorded from different vantage points, adds to the intrigue, she said.
The El Bosque case fits the pattern that Kean laid out in her book, in which she highlights UFO accounts from experienced pilots, military observers and government officials. Even measured by that standard, the Chilean case stands out, Kean said. "In some ways, I think it's more explosive than many of the cases in the book," she told me.
Skeptics unconvinced
In their article, Kean and Blumenthal wondered whether El Bosque would turn out to be "the case UFO skeptics have been dreading" — but experts on the other side of the UFO debate said their skepticism was unshaken.
"It's a tiny thing in a low-res video," astronomer Phil Plait, the myth-buster behind the Bad Astronomy blog, told me in an email. "If this is the best she can come up with, dread is not exactly what I feel."
Sheaffer, a columnist for The Skeptical Inquirer magazine and author of the book "UFO Sightings," joked about the reference to dread. "I'm shaking," he told me during a telephone interview. "You just can't see it on the phone."
Sheaffer said there wasn't yet enough data available to judge what really happened at El Bosque. "It's going to be like the Phoenix Lights in 1997. We're going to have to go and sit down and look at it," he said. (Coincidentally, Kean and Blumenthal's story came out on the 15th anniversary of the Phoenix Lights incident in Arizona.)
Some of the key missing points in the story have to do with the six other videos that are said to show the flying spot. Kean said that as far as she knew, those videos have not been seen by anyone outside CEFAA's investigative group. Another must-have for outside investigators would be the identity of the shooters behind the seven videos. If they turned out to be seven random people, with no relationship to one another, that would at least argue against the incident being an intentional hoax, Sheaffer said.
The fact that no one reported hearing or seeing anything out of the ordinary during the air show itself would suggest that the anomalous object is a trick of the eye — or, more accurately, a trick of the video.
For some of the denizens of the Above Top Secret online forum, the nature of the spot, or spots, was obvious: It's a bug, or bugs. An insect flying at regular speed through the foreground of the video could have been misinterpreted as an aircraft flying at super-fast speed through the background. One forum member posted several animated GIF images showing a similar effect. Different bugs could conceivably have flown through the viewing fields of different cameras, leading to the impression that the same super-fast craft was shown in each video — particularly if the six videos identified during CEFAA's follow-up were pulled out of a larger set.
"Maybe we'll find out it's a bug, but I seriously doubt it," Kean told me. She said she took Bermudez and his fellow investigators at their word. "All I know is that people who know way more about photo analysis than I have ruled that out," Kean said.
Even though Kean has made a name for herself as a UFO writer, she insisted that she's not wedded to a woo-woo explanation. "I just wanted to get this story out there," she said. "I'm hoping that some American scientists will now take on the analysis of this."
Update for 8:30 p.m. ET: I'm getting additional information from both sides of the debate. Leslie Kean sent me a follow-up email on the bug hypothesis:
"I went back to the CEFAA official re the bugs, and he said that's what they all thought at first when they got the first film (the one I posted). But when they went and got additional footage from very different vantage points which showed the same thing, they knew that was impossible. I don't think they're that stupid to claim this is a UFO if it was a bug, given that so many experts looked at it."
And there's this from UFO skeptic Tim Printy:
"I am very skeptical of this story the more I read it. There are no high-quality videos available, and the frame grabs/brief clips I have seen appear to be vague and indistinct. The idea they may be birds, insects or possibly a small Mylar balloon has crossed my mind but I can't tell much from the data at hand.
"There are some big red flags for me:
"1) This happened over a year ago and people are still working on analyzing this? If the evidence was truly that good, it would take a few months at best to come up with a reasonable analysis to demonstrate it was something not of this earth.
"2) It is being leaked out to various UFO blogs instead of publishing in a scientific journal. If it were good evidence, that is where it would appear, and not the Huffington Post.
"3) The videos are unavailable to be analyzed from outside sources. Perhaps they learned from the Mexican Air Force video debacle. Once the videos were revealed in sufficient length, many people identified the source of the images as being from oil wells in the gulf. A lot of people had egg on their face from that one. NARCAP was initially involved with that one, but then later stated they could not properly analyze the video because of the provenance being questionable or some excuse similar to that.
"4) The videos have no provenance. We don't know what has been done to them since the day of the event.
"Just my thoughts on this one. I can probably come up with a few more red flags, but I would rather wait for the report to appear or the raw videos to surface. Meanwhile, I will hit my snooze button while the UFOlogists proclaim it the latest 'smoking gun.' So far all of these 'smoking guns' have turned out to be empty water pistols that have never fired a squirt."

In this country YOU convect a person of murder, and in some cases have them executed with Eye witness testimony!!! And,,, AND yet expert witnesses when it comes to UFO's are thrown out, discredited, disbelieved!! Even tho 100's of high ranking officials have seen them, taken pictures, and collaborated their visual with radar!! If its good enough to put someone to death, then why not proof of UFO"S~~ There is a lot of BS out there! But then there are hundreds of cases that prove that somthing is out there! What?? Why does everybody believe that a UFO has to be a certain size to carry an alien, its like projecting OUR size on somebody from another galaxy, if they are REAL aliens they could be any shape or size.

Please... Some common sense - Kristen Ann Winslet is correct. This video would have had to have been shot with an extremely high shutter speed to capture such blur-less images of the supposed UFO. The person('s) shooting the videos would all ahead of time have had to set their camcorders shutter speeds to 1/2000 -1/4000 of a second I'm supposing to have recorded such sharp "UFOs". Most people use an "auto mode" when shooting as amateurs. Setting faster shutter speeds requires using "manual mode" for "low end" camcorders.
I guarantee you we are going to step up the number and quality of the sightings of our ships. You can count on this procedure as we feel it is important to the people of your world to begin to see us in earnest before our self-made disclosure announcements commence. You will see us in your skies all around your planet, and we will increase the number of sightings in the United States as well, as this is an important area in your world to focus on at this time.
We ask you all to share the video and photographic evidence of these sightings throughout your Internet, as this will stir many people's curiosity about what is going on in their skies. Many have concerns about the sun exploding. There is much radiation coming forth from the sun at this time and that is because it is getting ready to give birth. And yes, there will be radiation on the Earth. Different factors from the solar system, galaxy, and universe are also contributing to the changes on Earth. Time as you know it is speeding up and will change. Most souls will have changed over by this time. There are those who will pass away and continue their journey to other worlds and experiences.
There will be some who have stayed behind physically. There are some from the governments and military who will hide beneath the earth. There are some of the ancient ones with knowledge of ancient caves from previous civilizations that will stay. This is their choice and destiny. They will bring forth the knowledge they have hidden there in previous lives in the form of ancient records. Many of the Hopi will do so. Many of the Mayan and Peruvians who have knowledge of these caves that are still hidden from the world will do so. They will return there and protect themselves from the radiation. They will come forth again to help bring forth the New Earth. They will bring forth seeds and animals; their knowledge of genetics as well. They will help recreate the third dimensional world for those who are to return there.
Know that there will be at the Ascension of Earth, a splitting apart of dimensions. There will be a New Earth of a third dimensional frequency and vibration and the ascended Earth of the higher vibrational frequency. It is like a birthing process for the Earth and those elements of the Earth, that you live on now, that are to ascend will ascend with her spirit as well and a new spirit shall enter into the new third dimensional Earth and it will be a New Earth. It will be given a new name and it will be a totally New World.
And this is why we have chosen at this time to return to the Earth in its fullness. There will be mass sightings of us. There will be an end to the wars, to the untruths, to the lies that your government has told you these many years, and to the destruction. No more nuclear wars or weapons. The Andromeda Council is an intergalactic governance & development body of aligned benevolent star systems & planets of sentient intelligent life... for worlds in both the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies. The chaired members of the Andromeda Council comprise a total of twelve (12) distinct representative council member races.
The Council has a non-voting Chairman from the star system Zenetae, planet Tishtae, and a non-voting Vice-Chairwoman from the star system Mirach, planet Terial. The Mirach star system and planet Terial are located in the Milky Way Galaxy, though they can be seen from Earth as being in the Andromeda Constellation. The Zenetae star system itself is physically located in the Andromeda Galaxy. These two people, as many on the Andromeda Council, live & vibrate in a 4th dimension/density reality.
There are also some 3D, third dimensional like Earth; 5D, fifth dimensional, and 6D, sixth dimensional, people that are members of this governance body as well. There is one council member per seat. There are living accommodations on the primary Andromeda Council biosphere, where these meetings are held, for the people who live in all of these dimensions of life.
Many of the member races of the Council are acknowledged throughout the Universe to be some of the same races that originally seeded Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago, as evidenced by the variety of humans on the planet today. It is said these races have already been through the process of transformation, of upliftment - the elevated vibration, density, and spiritual consciousness of the 4D, fourth dimension.

It is lead by a Chairman from the Tau Ceti star system. The Galactic Federation itself is the 10th senior chaired member of the Andromeda Council. The Federation's lead planet is - Xeta.

You are not alone. You have never been alone.
​As soon as the completion of the clean-up phase of this war is finished [read: "The Real Back Story"], in short order, it is being planned by the members of the Andromeda Council that - almost simultaneously - they will also begin to prepare Earth & Earth's people to join a greater galactic ‘community of planets' …by beginning & conducting increasingly frequent, numerous flights of Andromeda Council flagged ‘scout craft’... to Earth.
Visitors to Earth will most likely come from the following four (4) star systems & planets: Polaris - planet Ventra, Antares - planet Nikotae, Sirius A - planet Toleka, and from the constellation Cygnus, star system Alpha Cygni (aka) Deneb - planet Ritol.
Scout craft, two (2) at a time, at most, in any one area at any time, holding 3-4 crew people from the above listed member planets of the Andromeda Council, will conduct friendly open contact, visits & interaction with humans all across planet Earth... just every day people.
Again, this process of open contact, visitation & interaction will take place as soon as planet Earth is safe for all Earth humans, and the remaining underground & undersea bases are elimininated.
This plan for contact & visitation is to happen over & over again for an extended period of time, probably at least upward of one (1) full year all across the globe, until Earth people finally get the message - you are not alone, you have never been alone.
The planned geographic areas of planet Earth that will be visited, in order of priority, are the following:

They will quietly land, cloaked. They will visit with people on the outskirts of most major cities, on the outskirts of suburban cities & towns, in their parks, in their malls, outside shopping plazas, on the campuses of private universities & schools, where ever people normally congregate in these above countries. Maybe more.
They will visit the more spiritually progressive, 'advanced', 'aware' and 'open' parts of each country, as an example, the southwestern United States, and western Canada, first. They will visit all parts of each country... visiting the most progressive parts first, and least progressive parts of each country, last.
note: due to the severity of the damage from the earthquakes & radiation leakage, contact with Japan will be pushed forward into the future at least 6 months. Therefore, contact with the USA will now happen first, in terms of priority.
You are not alone, you have never been alone. The overall message to the people of planet Earth will be for them to enjoy & revel in the knowledge that -
you are not alone, you have never been alone, your planet was seeded by many, many races from across the cosmos. This universe and its galaxies are teaming with sentient, intelligent life, societies and cultures. People of planet Earth, you are part of this glorious expanse... of sentient intelligent life.
And, that as sentient intelligent life, you, people of Earth, as free souls have a right to be free - to live lives of free choice & free will, to evolve, and to function as spiritually alive, awake, aware and responsible… sovereign human beings.
To help promote a long and peaceful existence of a reborn planet, and a reborn people, and the benefits of intergalactic trade - it is expected Earth will receive an invitation & a formal set of protocols to join a greater community of planets, the Galactic Federation, based in the Tau Ceti star system which holds the tenth (#10) senior member seat of the Andromeda Council. If it wants to, Earth can join as a peaceful contributing member of this community of planets.
And, as a member of the Galactic Federation, and therefore a member of the Andromeda Council, Earth will also have its own representation, via a Joint Earth Council, formally representing the interests of Earth.
However, people of planet Earth, this is your decision. Only you can determine your own destiny, only you can make your own choices... only you can determine your future. No one else. It is all up to you.

I hope these readings that we will perform amount to the data we wish to collect in order to better understand the development of the human psyche at this time. We are conducting these readings in order to better understand the human mental processes and their function. We are conducting tests to better our mental and telepathic connections as well, and through these tests we are able to identify areas of strength and of weakness that can be improved upon. Readings indicate the human psyche development is proceeding very well, and we see a day when telepathic communication will become common place between yourselves, and other dimensional beings as well.
All along your journey we have been monitoring you in many ways and we have often performed tests of your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual developments. Through these tests, we better ascertained what areas of your development required attention and which areas you were developing well in. Based on these findings we initiated programs and events that were designed to assist you in your development in these areas, and this is just as true today as it has always been.
Today your world is experiencing many changes on many levels, and this can also be said of your individual consciousnesses that are also experiencing changes on many different levels. Ideas, concepts, and events are introduced to you to assist you in your development. Not all events that happen in your world are created by us, and not all events that happen in your world are created by you. It is more a subtle mix of our energies that form your reality then either one or the other. All has been designed for your upliftment and your betterment. Nothing that we do is for our own gain or to manipulate your world for any reason other than the development of you as a people and as individuals.
The Cabal and all their minions are also tools of development, and they have played a very necessary role in your advancement. It is time more of you saw this and understood this, as to better understand why they are now being removed from your reality. They are being removed from your reality because they no longer possess a benefit for you; rather, they are now impeding your progress. They are now impeding your progress because you have reached a certain level as a society where you no longer need their friction and interference in your lives for you to learn from. The lessons they were designed to teach you have been taught, and many of you have demonstrated that you have successfully learned the lessons of these teachings and now it is time for you to move on to new lessons that await you.
The men and women of the Cabal and their many associates have also been learning lessons through these dealings. They have not in any way been used or tricked to only benefit you, but they have also benefited greatly, and we do not mean in their temporary and shallow monetary gains. Some of them have made great strides in their spiritual developments as well, as many of them are now seeing the error of their ways and how so much of themselves has been wasted in these pursuits for more power, more control, and more wealth. Many of them are now reflecting upon their lives and what could have been, and are making great strides in their levels of consciousness as well.
As we have maintained all along, you are all in this together. You are all one team, although it has appeared you were divided into two teams, the light versus the dark. You are all one. You are all one race, you are all one planet, and you are all on a journey together. The dark as well as the light are all learning lessons that were carefully developed and implemented into your reality to better assist you learn the essential lessons of your journey through existence. The time is approaching when this game that has pitted the light against the dark has reached its conclusion, and when it has, much will be revealed to you to shed more light on the members of these two seemingly opposing teams.
We feel many of you may be very surprised at some of these revelations. There has always been more to your reality than you are able to perceive with your 3rd dimensional senses, but as you as a people and as an individual are raising your vibrations to higher dimensional levels, you will perceive more and in greater detail than you ever have before. There will be many surprises in store for you, and we feel many of you will be delighted as so many of these well-kept secrets are revealed to you one by one.
Try to see the dark and the lessons they have taught you as blessings, for indeed they are, as these lessons have been essential to your growth and without them you would not be embarking on the new journey that waits just up ahead for you. The gifts you are about to receive are wonderful and they are plentiful and they are all due to your level of advancement, and you would not have reached this point of your journey without so many of your fellow humans on both sides of the ball. Try to remember this as these members of the dark Cabal are brought into custody to face justice. Try to see them in the light that they rightfully deserve, as instruments for your higher learning. They too had lessons that needed to be learned and they are learning them, and will continue to learn them as these proceedings continue on.
Try to remember as everything has been designed for your advancement, so to should be the punishment for their crimes. We suggest to you to look for avenues of punishment that will better assist them on their journeys, rather than act as deterrents to the expansion of their consciousness. This is what we ask of you at this time, although as we have said, it is your world and it is up to you. The punishments you dispense will be your decision and we will abide by them and assist you in their implementation. All we ask of you is to think carefully over your options as all souls deserve a chance to learn and to grow, and it is never too late for anyone throughout this entire universe to find the path back into the light.
Try to be as kind and as patient as you can with these lost souls as what they need is love and understanding, as hatred and anger will only push them further down into the darkness that imprisons them today. Many of you are well trained and educated in these areas and will be called upon through these proceedings to show the others that there is a better way of rehabilitation than pure punishment. We ask you to share your wisdom with your brothers and sisters who may not clearly understand yet these concepts, and offer them as consideration as these criminal proceedings move forward. There will be many who cry for revenge, and a lynch mob mentality may grow within the ranks of those who learn, perhaps for the first time, that they have been victims at the hands of these individuals. We ask you to dowse these flames, as these energies are not conducive to your betterment or upliftment at this time.
There are better ways to handle these proceedings and dispense justice, and we will leave it upon you to decide amongst yourselves how you will choose to proceed with these damaged souls. At the proper time, we will introduce to you advanced methods of rehabilitation for your consideration and discussion amongst yourselves. We feel these methods would weigh better in the long run for both you and the dark ones alike. Remember your lessons are not completed either, and these criminal proceedings are a large part of your education as well.
Please be advised these proceedings will begin very soon upon the arrests of these men and women, and they will move swiftly without any lengthy interruptions. The time will be upon you very quickly to decide how it is you wish to dispense justice and what you feel would be the best methods in the way of rehabilitation. When one respects this law, so many other laws that are on your books today can be taken down and done away with as they will no longer apply to your experience.
You are about to experience true freedom, for many of you for the first time throughout all of your incarnations into the physical, and we are here to make sure all that has served to keep you down and keep you repressed is removed from your new lives forever. Please be patient with us as we proceed with these many changes as they number greatly and can be very complex, but we assure you all the changes will proceed according to schedule and there will be no delays permitted of any kind. Once the obstacles of the dark ones are removed there shall be no other reasons to slow our progress in any way. You are now about see what real change looks like.
We will begin with a restructuring of you governments once the Cabal is removed from power. There has been a corruption of most of your world governments, in many cases leading all the way to the top of a hierarchal structure. We intend to tear down this pyramidal structural one block at a time and rebuild your governments with those of integrity, honor and a sense for justice and fair play. These men and women will uphold your new law, and your new law will be based on love. This is the way it will be and there will be no toleration or exceptions to your new law, and all who try to stand in the way of your new system will be removed and taken to a place that more accurately matches their vibrational and consciousness levels. This is the way it must be as no one or nothing can be permitted to stand in the way of your newly forming world. As your new society is taking shape, it will be as a newborn baby that needs love, proper care and nurturing, and each and every one of you will be the parents of this newborn and it will be each of your responsibilities to raise her with love and give her what she needs.
Many of you have shown your worthiness to be the leaders of your new society and will, in the days ahead, be offered opportunities in your new governments. This is how it will be in your new world, where each of you will earn your positions within your society through your good deeds and your actions, and no longer will positions of power be filled through cronyism, influence peddling, or coercion in anyway. Your society will be free and clear of any corruption on any level, and there will be no reason for any of you to ever have to stray from the path of light in order to survive as all you will ever need for you and your families will be yours. Your new system will be a system based on abundance, and so many of the ills of your society that were symptoms of its cause of lack and scarcity will disappear forever.
It is now the time for what many of you have waited a very long time for. The show is about to start and we ask you to continue to be participants in your show and not spectators. There will be enough spectators to these proceedings and what we are asking for is performers to take their places center stage. We will act as directors for this production and suggest to you where your talents can be better utilized, but always keep in mind, we will only suggest our ideas to you and the final decisions for anything you do will be up to you as it is your world and you will call all the shots.
We are here in an advisory capacity and to help you in ways that you are not properly suited for. Heightened states of awareness are what we intend throughout our missions to other worlds. We place our personnel within growing societies where they can be themselves and effectively raise the consciousness of others around them as they live their lives. This is a very effective method that we have worked on perfecting for many eons and we will continue this method as it has proven to be very effective in raising individual, as well as the collective consciousness of worlds. When the work of our Lightworkers is completed, it is time for them to rejoin us and move on to new areas of their work. This is the case at this point in time here on this planet, as many of you are completing your assignments as Lightworkers to assist in the raising of the collective consciousness of this world. You will now be rejoining us as we proceed with the next stages of this operation. When all our work is completed here, it will be time to move on to new destinations and new assignments and you, of course, as members of the Galactic Federation of Light, as well as some of you who are members of other galactic commands, will rejoin your crews and travel to the location of your new missions.
Our work is never finished, of course, as there are newly born worlds every moment of every day throughout this universe, as it is an ever growing and ever expanding expression of the Creator’s dream. Each of you are an expression of the Creator's dream as well, and you too are ever-growing and ever-expanding each and every moment of each and every day. We are also here helping you grow into maturity, just as we are here in assistance to your society as a whole.
All throughout our journeys, there are higher dimensional beings guiding us and nurturing us, as this is the way this universe has been designed. None of us are ever alone on our journeys as we are protected, loved and cared for by those of higher realms whose mission it is to watch over those of lower realms and help them on their journey. This is the way it has always been, and this is the way it will always be. We too have higher dimensional beings watching over us, guiding us and protecting us, and once you ascend you too will be called upon to watch over and guide beings from a lower dimension while those of the higher realms continue to watch over you. This is the way it is in this universe, as we are never left all alone without guidance on our never ending journey.
We are always cared for and protected, and this is why there is never a reason to fear. Fear is an illusion, as is separation, of your lower dimensional states, but as you ascend into the higher realms this illusion will fade away as the mirage it is and you will remember that you have never been alone and unprotected, not for one moment throughout your journey. We are here to help you remember this, and we are here watching over you, guiding you and protecting you, just as we have always been and always will.
I have never met such resilience to the truth before, but we see plowing through these walls of lack of information in due time as we push forward with our mission. Please be advised there will be further obstacles before us before you enter into the last and final stages of ascension, but these obstacles as well will be removed one by one by us together as a team. Looking towards these projects we see a finely tuned working machine consisting of members of your human family and members of our cosmic families. Together there is no obstacle that we will face that can stop us, and we will succeed as we have so many times before and go on to face new challenges and new adventures in this universe of ours.
Tougher jobs we have had, but that is not to say that this particular mission is not without its challenges. The Cabal and their minions have proven a formidable foe, but they have seen their last day as they now recede with the sunset and will not be permitted to see another day. We have effectively neutralized their fighting forces and they are no longer able to mount any opposition to our movements and our plans to install a new societal system on your planet. Every plan, every strategy, every maneuver, and every wing and a prayer that they have thrown at us has been defeated and they are now out of options and will see no revival of their fighting forces or of their plans for world domination. It is all over for them. They know this, they know we know this, and now you know this. It is over. Victory is ours together as it has always been written.
